For the " YOUNG SOLOISTS " category: Diploma and various gifts. There may be an opportunity to perform with a symphony orchestra the following year, depending on the jury's decision.

 

For the " CONCERT DIPLOMA " category: Diploma and various gifts. A Recital commitment may be awarded the following year, depending on the jury's decision.

 

Accommodation is offered at the discretion of the Sponsor, Saint Exupéry Hotels, provided that the candidate books accommodation in one of the Sponsor's establishments.

Since the creation in 2007 of the Nice piano competition, we strive to help young talents to perform and evaluate themselves at the international level of the mastery of this King of Instruments.

Our goal is to help them pursue an education and career that inspires them. Thanks to our passionate teachers and jury members, our exceptional staff, we hope that our work contributes to a synergy between educators/pedagogues/professionals.

THE NEWS OF NICE CÔTE D'AZUR INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION

FOR THE 2022 EDITION:

Concerning the YOUNG TALENTS Category divided into 8 degrees: The jury will meet by videoconference to award rewards (diplomas and gifts) as regards to the degrees from Initiation to Medium included. Candidates for the Superior, Virtuosity and Concert Diploma degrees will also be selected by video during the eliminatory round. They will presentially perform in the Final in Nice if conditions allow.

Concerning the YOUNG SOLISTS Category and the GRAND PRIX Category: Candidates will communicate by email the YouTube link which will allow the jury to evaluate their video recording(s). The jury will meet by videoconference to select the 3 candidates who will compete in the final round with live orchestra in Nice if conditions allow. Then the Jury will meet again by videoconference, or presentially in Nice if conditions allow, to award the prizes (diplomas and gifts, amount of money).

 

In the case of the sending of video recordings, it is required that the recordings be realised in one take (no cut between pieces) and that they be deposited only on the YouTube platform as a private link.

Règlement Interne – 14 articles

1. Le Concours international de piano de Nice Côte d'Azur Simone Delbert Février, est ouvert à tous les pianistes de toutes nationalités. Les limites d'âge, selon les catégories, sont précisées dans la rubrique Programme. Les candidats récompensés dans une édition précédente du concours ne peuvent pas se représenter dans le même niveau de la même catégorie.

2. Toute inscription implique l'acceptation du règlement du concours.

3. Toutes les épreuves des 6 premiers degrés de la catégorie jeunes Talents ainsi que les épreuves éliminatoires des 4 catégories se réaliseront par l’envoi de vidéo(s) pour l’édition 2022.

4. Le jury est souverain et ses décisions sont sans appel. Le jury est seul compétent pour réaménager et attribuer ou non les récompenses.

5. Les membres du jury retirent leur voix du vote concernant un de leurs élèves éventuels.

6. En cas d'égalité des voix, la voix du Président ou du Vice-Président compte double.

7. Le montant des droits d'inscription selon les catégories est fixé dans la rubrique "Inscription".

8. Les frais de voyage et d'hébergement sont à la charge des candidats. Voir rubrique Hébergement.

9. Les candidats sont priés de prévenir le secrétariat en cas de leur absence laquelle ne donne pas droit à un remboursement.

10. En s'inscrivant, les candidats acceptent que le concours puisse utiliser leur image (photos, vidéos) et leur(s) prestation(s) dans le cadre du concours (sites web, d’hébergement,  youtube ou autres, Télévisions, Radios...etc) et de son rayonnement.

11. Cas d'exception : les organisateurs se réservent le droit, en cas de force majeure, d'annuler une des épreuves ou l'ensemble de la compétition. Dans ce cas, les candidats seront remboursés de leur cotisation d'inscription.

13. Les candidats sont avisés que les récompenses sont assujetties au nombre de candidats, et au versement effectif des subventions de la part des mécènes. Dans le cas d'une éventuelle carence, partielle ou totale de la dotation des récompenses, les organisateurs ne pourront être tenus pour responsables et se réservent le droit de modifier leur montant et leur répartition.

14. En cas de litige généré par la traduction de ce règlement, c'est la rédaction du règlement en Français qui fera foi.

Internal Regulations – 14 articles 1. The Nice Côte d'Azur Simone Delbert February International Piano Competition is open to all pianists of all nationalities. The age limits, according to the categories, are specified in the Program section. Candidates rewarded in a previous edition of the competition cannot be represented in the same level of the same category. 2. Any registration implies acceptance of the competition rules. 3. All the events of the first 6 degrees of the young Talents category as well as the eliminatory events of the 4 categories will be carried out by sending video(s) for the 2022 edition. 4. The jury is sovereign and its decisions are final. The jury alone is competent to redevelop and award the prizes or not. 5. The members of the jury withdraw their voice from the vote concerning one of their possible pupils. 6. In the event of a tie, the vote of the President or Vice-President counts double. 7. The amount of the registration fees according to the categories is fixed in the "Registration" section. 8. Travel and accommodation costs are the responsibility of the candidates. See Accommodation section. 9. Candidates are requested to notify the secretariat in the event of their absence, which does not entitle them to reimbursement. 10. By registering, candidates agree that the competition may use their image (photos, videos) and their performance(s) within the framework of the competition (websites, hosting, youtube or other, Televisions, Radios...etc) and its influence. 11. Exceptional cases: the organizers reserve the right, in the event of force majeure, to cancel one of the events or the entire competition. In this case, candidates will be refunded their registration fee. 13. Applicants are advised that awards are subject to the number of applicants, and the actual payment of grants from patrons. In the case of a possible deficiency, partial or total of the endowment of the rewards, the organizers cannot be held responsible and reserve the right to modify their amount and their distribution. 14. In the event of a dispute generated by the translation of these rules, the wording of the rules in French will prevail.

2022 PROGRAMME

"YOUNG TALENTS" CATEGORY, divided into 8 degrees :

 

Initiation (candidates born in 2016 and after): one or two piece(s) of own choice.

Total duration between 1 minute 30 and 4 minutes

Beginners (candidates born in 2014 and after): 2 pieces of own choice.

Total duration between 3 and 5 minutes  

 

Preparatory (candidates born in 2012 and after): a piece by J.S. Bach and a piece of own choice.

Total duration between 4 and 6 minutes

 

Elementary (candidates born in 2010 and after): a piece by J.S. Bach and one or two pieces of own choice. Total duration between 5 and 7 minutes

 

Medium Degree (candidates born in 2008 and after): a work by J.S. Bach (3 voices polyphony at a minimum), a work from the Classical or Romantic period, and a work by a composer from the 20th century. Contemporary works are admitted on the condition that they are published by a music editor and that the candidates provide two copies of the score to the jury members.

Total duration: between 11 and 14 minutes

 

Superior Degree (candidates born in 2006 and after): Attention : 1st selective round by the posting of videos on the YouTube platform exclusively. An important work by J.S. Bach (4 voices polyphony at a minimum), a work from the classical period (entire work or a single rapid sonata movement), one or two romantic works and one or two works by a composer of the XXth century. Contemporary works are admitted on the condition that they are published by a music editor and that the candidates provide two copies of the score to the jury members. Total duration: between 14 and 19 minutes

 

Virtuosity Degree (candidates born in 2004 and after): Attention : 1st selective round by the posting of videos on the YouTube platform exclusively. An important work by J.S. Bach, a virtuosity study including those of S. Liapounov or M. Moszkowski or F. Chopin or F. Liszt or À. Casella, an entire classical sonata (entire work or a single rapid sonata movement), one or two romantic works, an important work by C. Debussy other than the Preludes or by M. Ravel or one or two works by a 20th century composer. Contemporary works are admitted on the condition that they are published by a music editor and that the candidates provide two copies of the score to the jury members. Total duration: between 19 and 25 minutes

Concert Diploma (candidates born in 1999 and after): Attention : 1st selective round by the posting of videos on the YouTube platform exclusively. An important work by J.S. Bach, and an entirely free program respecting a balance between on the one hand, technical virtuosity and romantic sensibility, and on the other hand a mix of composers of different nationalities and periods. Contemporary works are admitted on the condition that they are published by a music editor and that the candidates provide two copies of the score to the jury members.

Total duration: between 28 and 50 minutes maximum

"YOUNG SOLOISTS" CATEGORY (candidates born in 2006 and after):

Attention : 1st selective round by the posting of videos on the YouTube platform exclusively: 3 finalists will be selected at the end of the on-line eliminatory tests.  

A work by J.S. Bach, a work from the Classical period (or a single rapid sonata movement), a work by a romantic composer and/or (depending on timing requirements) a work by a 20th century composer published by a music editor. For the latter, the candidates will provide two copies of the score to the jury members. Total duration: between 12 and 15 minutes.

For the final round with orchestra : a concerto among:

Mozart Concerto No. 21 - 1st movement only.

The entire concerto in F m by Bach.

The concerto in D m by Bach - 1st movement only.

"GRAND PRIZE" CATEGORY (candidates born in 1991 and after):

Attention: 1st selective round by the posting of videos on the YouTube platform exclusively: 3 finalists will be selected at the end of the on-line eliminatory tests.

1st round : solo piano. Entirely free program that must respect a balance of technical virtuosity and romantic sensibility. Diversify composers of different nationalities and periods. Contemporary works are admitted on the condition that they are published by a music editor and that the candidates provide two copies of the score to the jury members. Total duration: between 50 and 60 minutes.

Final round with orchestra

A concerto among:

Mozart Concerto No. 21

Beethoven Concerto No. 2

Chopin Concerto No. 2

Saint-Saëns Concerto No. 2

Contemporary works are admitted on the condition that they are published by a music editor and that the candidates provide two copies of the score to the jury members.

Duration: between 1 minute 30  and 4 minutes.

Concert Diploma (candidates born in 1999 and after): Attention: 1st selective round by internet. Entirely free program respecting a balance between on the one hand, technical virtuosity and romantic sensibility, and on the other hand a range of composers from different nationalities and periods. Total duration: between 40 and 50 minutes.     ·

Registration:

Registrations for the 15th edition of the Nice Côte d'Azur International Piano Competition, will be open from May 15, 2022.

Closing of registrations:

October 5, 2022

 

 

Registration is only effective upon receipt of payment for the registration fees.

Please note that candidates for the levels and categories which include an on-line pre-selection pay only 50% of the registration fee initially; these candidates will pay the remainder of the subscription if they are selected to come and compete in Nice (in person).
