PRIZES
For the " GRAND PRIZE " category: Diploma and various gifts. € 1500 and an opportunity to perform with a symphony orchestra the following year, depending on the jury's decision.
For the " YOUNG SOLOISTS " category: Diploma and various gifts. There may be an opportunity to perform with a symphony orchestra the following year, depending on the jury's decision.
For the " CONCERT DIPLOMA " category: Diploma and various gifts. A Recital commitment may be awarded the following year, depending on the jury's decision.
Accommodation is offered at the discretion of the Sponsor, Saint Exupéry Hotels, provided that the candidate books accommodation in one of the Sponsor's establishments.

Since the creation in 2007 of the Nice piano competition, we strive to help young talents to perform and evaluate themselves at the international level of the mastery of this King of Instruments.
Our goal is to help them pursue an education and career that inspires them. Thanks to our passionate teachers and jury members, our exceptional staff, we hope that our work contributes to a synergy between educators/pedagogues/professionals.

THE NEWS OF NICE CÔTE D'AZUR INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION
FOR THE 2022 EDITION:
Concerning the YOUNG TALENTS Category divided into 8 degrees: The jury will meet by videoconference to award rewards (diplomas and gifts) as regards to the degrees from Initiation to Medium included. Candidates for the Superior, Virtuosity and Concert Diploma degrees will also be selected by video during the eliminatory round. They will presentially perform in the Final in Nice if conditions allow.
Concerning the YOUNG SOLISTS Category and the GRAND PRIX Category: Candidates will communicate by email the YouTube link which will allow the jury to evaluate their video recording(s). The jury will meet by videoconference to select the 3 candidates who will compete in the final round with live orchestra in Nice if conditions allow. Then the Jury will meet again by videoconference, or presentially in Nice if conditions allow, to award the prizes (diplomas and gifts, amount of money).
In the case of the sending of video recordings, it is required that the recordings be realised in one take (no cut between pieces) and that they be deposited only on the YouTube platform as a private link.

"YOUNG TALENTS" CATEGORY, divided into 8 degrees :
Initiation (candidates born in 2016 and after): one or two piece(s) of own choice.
Total duration between 1 minute 30 and 4 minutes

Beginners (candidates born in 2014 and after): 2 pieces of own choice.
Total duration between 3 and 5 minutes
Preparatory (candidates born in 2012 and after): a piece by J.S. Bach and a piece of own choice.
Total duration between 4 and 6 minutes
Elementary (candidates born in 2010 and after): a piece by J.S. Bach and one or two pieces of own choice. Total duration between 5 and 7 minutes
Medium Degree (candidates born in 2008 and after): a work by J.S. Bach (3 voices polyphony at a minimum), a work from the Classical or Romantic period, and a work by a composer from the 20th century. Contemporary works are admitted on the condition that they are published by a music editor and that the candidates provide two copies of the score to the jury members.
Total duration: between 11 and 14 minutes
Superior Degree (candidates born in 2006 and after): Attention : 1st selective round by the posting of videos on the YouTube platform exclusively. An important work by J.S. Bach (4 voices polyphony at a minimum), a work from the classical period (entire work or a single rapid sonata movement), one or two romantic works and one or two works by a composer of the XXth century. Contemporary works are admitted on the condition that they are published by a music editor and that the candidates provide two copies of the score to the jury members. Total duration: between 14 and 19 minutes
Virtuosity Degree (candidates born in 2004 and after): Attention : 1st selective round by the posting of videos on the YouTube platform exclusively. An important work by J.S. Bach, a virtuosity study including those of S. Liapounov or M. Moszkowski or F. Chopin or F. Liszt or À. Casella, an entire classical sonata (entire work or a single rapid sonata movement), one or two romantic works, an important work by C. Debussy other than the Preludes or by M. Ravel or one or two works by a 20th century composer. Contemporary works are admitted on the condition that they are published by a music editor and that the candidates provide two copies of the score to the jury members. Total duration: between 19 and 25 minutes
Concert Diploma (candidates born in 1999 and after): Attention : 1st selective round by the posting of videos on the YouTube platform exclusively. An important work by J.S. Bach, and an entirely free program respecting a balance between on the one hand, technical virtuosity and romantic sensibility, and on the other hand a mix of composers of different nationalities and periods. Contemporary works are admitted on the condition that they are published by a music editor and that the candidates provide two copies of the score to the jury members.
Total duration: between 28 and 50 minutes maximum
"YOUNG SOLOISTS" CATEGORY (candidates born in 2006 and after):
Attention : 1st selective round by the posting of videos on the YouTube platform exclusively: 3 finalists will be selected at the end of the on-line eliminatory tests.
A work by J.S. Bach, a work from the Classical period (or a single rapid sonata movement), a work by a romantic composer and/or (depending on timing requirements) a work by a 20th century composer published by a music editor. For the latter, the candidates will provide two copies of the score to the jury members. Total duration: between 12 and 15 minutes.
For the final round with orchestra : a concerto among:
Mozart Concerto No. 21 - 1st movement only.
The entire concerto in F m by Bach.
The concerto in D m by Bach - 1st movement only.
"GRAND PRIZE" CATEGORY (candidates born in 1991 and after):
Attention: 1st selective round by the posting of videos on the YouTube platform exclusively: 3 finalists will be selected at the end of the on-line eliminatory tests.
1st round : solo piano. Entirely free program that must respect a balance of technical virtuosity and romantic sensibility. Diversify composers of different nationalities and periods. Contemporary works are admitted on the condition that they are published by a music editor and that the candidates provide two copies of the score to the jury members. Total duration: between 50 and 60 minutes.

Registrations for the 15th edition of the Nice Côte d'Azur International Piano Competition, will be open from May 15, 2022.
Closing of registrations:
October 5, 2022
Registration is only effective upon receipt of payment for the registration fees.

Please note that candidates for the levels and categories which include an on-line pre-selection pay only 50% of the registration fee initially; these candidates will pay the remainder of the subscription if they are selected to come and compete in Nice (in person).
